Dentistry For Teens
Preventive Care King St. Dental Wellness Center provides preventive care for the entire family. We strongly emphasize patient education during your hygiene visit. This may include frequent cleanings, patient homecare, including tooth brushing and flossing, and timely intervention since this is the best way to eliminate many of the problems patients’ experience. Is your teen experiencing gum problems? Most people think that gum problems are only for adults, but bad breath, bleeding gums, puffy gums, or gum recession are all signs of a gum problem! Hormonal changes related to puberty can put teens at greater risk for getting periodontal disease. During this time, the gums may become swollen, turn red and feel tender. Early diagnosis is important for the successful treatment of these issues. Therefore, it is important that you see Dr. de los Reyes or Dr. Niver for an examination as part of your comprehensive dental health care. Orthodontics (Braces) Our Orthodontic consultations are complimentary.  After your child’s consultation, we will determine if Orthodontic care is recommended at this time and discuss the treatment options.    We offer the following full service orthodontic care: >Click to learn more about Braces >Click to learn more about Invisalign Considering Braces? Additionally, if you are considering braces to straighten your teeth, it is especially important to consult with Dr. Niver to ensure that your gums are healthy before you begin. How will I know if my child should visit an orthodontist? Dr. de los Reyes will evaluate during every yearly exam if you child is a candidate for braces. At what age should my child start braces? Orthodontic treatment typically begins between the ages of 11-13 depending on the rate of growth and development of your child. Composite Fillings These tooth colored resin fillings have replaced silver/mercury/amalgam fillings and have advanced to state-of-the-art status as the material of choice for small cavities or to replace small existing amalgam fillings. They are not a permanent solution, lasting usually 5 to 10 years. They are beautiful, durable, take only one visit to place and are now BPA free. Special Needs Children At King St. Dental Wellness Center we also offer complete and comprehensive care for special needs children with mild to moderate conditions. Currently children with special needs receive all dental care in a hospital setting which can be very intimidating and overwhelming. We have created a safe and comfortable facility to care for these children in a non-invasive environment with noise cancellation head phones to shut off the sound of the drill and children can watch their favorite show on the TV during the procedure. Should the need arise, we have two “quiet rooms” (operating rooms) fully equipped to handle all surgical procedures with an anesthesiologist. To further your experience, we created a special waiting room for special needs families and their children. It also serves as a recovery room after having gone through procedures under partial or full sedation. In an effort to prepare children for their experience, we have created a “storyboard” to familiarize them with our amazing facility. >Click here for Storyboards
